Emily Jane White: There’s a rare confidence to Emily Jane White’s songwriting: it’s at once generous and tough-minded, reflective and unsentimental. Her work shares some elements with folk music, but the term does not do justice to her ambitious songwriting and robust arrangements. White possesses a singular voice inspired by the raveled threads of the uncanny in American culture, including depression-era blues and classic works of gothic literature such as Toni Morrison’s Beloved and Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s The Yellow Wallpaper.
Marie Moreshead: Marie Moreshead’s blend of folk pop songwriting has been described by The Maine Switch as “aural comfort food.” With an acoustic guitar in hand, she has shared the stage with regionally and nationally touring acts including Ray LaMontagne, Sonya Kitchell, NeedToBreathe, and Rustic Overtones.. In 2010, she was voted “Best Female Vocalist” in the Portland Phoenix Best Music Poll Awards and was selected as a showcase artist for the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in New York. Moreshead’s EP Birdwatchers was named “Top EP of 2009” by the Portland Phoenix and she released a self-titled full-length album in January 2011, a two part disc containing five full band tracks and five bare bones acoustic tracks. Her collaboration with producer Doctor Rosen Rosen, a cover of the classic "Love Hurts," was featured on the CW's show Ringer starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, and her new live EP entitled Topanga Sessions was released in April of this year. She currently lives in Los Angeles.
Stevie Ann: Stevie Ann is, without a doubt, one of Holland’s finest singer-songwriters. With her latest album ‘Light Up’ she has proven once again that she continues to grow and develop as an artist, while at the same time remaining true to, and therefore strengthening, her unique sound. She chose to work with the famed producer Mitchell Froom (who has worked with Sheryl Crow, Crowded House, and Randy Newman, among others). Country, folk and pop influences can be heard, but they are dynamically shaped around Stevie’s phenomenal voice and vibe, which remain warm and welcoming. Her music is sophisticated, yet grounding, full of volume and nuance. Stevie Ann not only wrote the music but the lyrics to all the songs, played guitar and was closely involved in the album’s production. Stevie Ann has been capturing Dutch hearts since 2005, with astonishing results. She has won the prestigious Silver Harp and Essent Awards, and her many singles have enjoyed several high-ranking chart positions. Her debut album ‘Away From Here’ went gold in no time, and her second CD ‘Closer To The Heart’ brought forth two successful singles, a nationwide club tour and a sold out theater tour. Recently she moved to Los Angeles to work on a new record.
