Armada : RMADA are a powerful four piece cranking out smart, soulful indie rock from the heart of Los Angeles. Echoes of Spoon, Wilco, Radiohead, Black Keys, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club help define one of LA's most exciting indie rock outfits.
Yulianna : Yulianna's life has always centered around music. Her earliest memories are of her mother (herself an accomplished musician and author) playing Chopin while Yulianna toddled at her feet. Born in the city of Almaty, Kazakhstan ("Yes, that Khazakstan," says Yulianna, adding with an exasperated grin, "and please, no "Borat" jokes – I've heard them all!"), Yulianna began violin lessons at the age of six and quickly distinguished herself in competitions and as a member of a children's group performing in the then-U.S.S.R.
Tru and the Strays: Tru: A singer, dancer, and actor, she is also an accomplished musician and complex songwriter. The recent graduate of Manhattan's Professional Performing Arts School has professional experience in numerous forms of entertainment. As a singer she has sung all over New York City and the tri-state area, performing her own work as well as singing back-up for profound artists in soul, pop, and rock. She has recorded demos for celebrity artists (Ashlee Simpson, Hilary Duff, Jamie Lynn Spears) and commercial jingles for television and radio. A few years ago, she was approached by an Emmy Award winning BET producer who introduced her to distinguished coach and mentor Craig Derry (who has personally vocal coached Katy Perry, Mary J. Blige, Marc Anthony, Angie Stone, and Ashanti). Tru's ear lends itself to her work as a musician. A classically trained pianist, Tru has played in bands and as a session player while consistently accompanying herself and other singers at gigs. Playing music led to writing music and lyrics, with her first poem published in an anthology at the age of 12. She has co-written with great pop songwriters including Andy Marvel (Jessica Simpson, Diana King), Jeff Franzel (Clay Aiken, Taylor Dayne, *NSYNC, The Temptations), Dana Calitri (Elton John, Celine Dion, Chris Daughtry, Jesse McCartney) and Martin Briley (*NSYNC, Barry Manilow, Celine Dion). Although she grew up studying classical ballet, she has also danced in hip-hop music videos, toured with a modern dance company, and even worked as assistant choreographer in the critically acclaimed Off-Broadway show, Joy. In recent years, she had the privilege of traveling across the country with Mattel, Inc. making appearances as the live Barbie™ spokesperson. While performing musically throughout New York City, Tru is actively pursuing a career in film and television through her manager Ted Brunson at Cobalt Sky Entertainment and agents Victoria Kress and Pam Roth at Don Buchwald and Associates. When not working she spends her nights at open mics and live jams while learning guitar. Currently, she is playing Linda in the gospel/soul musical workshop "Soul Kitchen," rehearsing for a new sketch comedy television pilot (with writers from SNL and The Late Show with David Letterman, and putting together a new band to perform her original music around the city. On December 14th, she had the honor of singing with Grammy winner Latrice Varret at the Nokia Theater in Times Square as the opening act for the legendary Aretha Franklin.
HasKaLa : So what is "HaSkaLA"? Valid question Comrade! Haskala means "Enlightenment" in Hebrew, and that's just what this brand spankin' new L.A.-based ska band aims to do: illuminate your mind, set fire to your soul- and most importantly do it all while making you dance! Frontman Steven Schub summarizes the choice of band name thusly: "Let's see, ya got the sound of laughter- "Ha", the word "Ska" snuck in there, and our home city of L.A. HaSkaLA is all about all three: Laughter, Ska and bringing Joy, Mirth & Madness to the City of Angels". Well, HaSkaLA is well on their way to accomplishing this self-imposed merry mission! HaSkaLA appeared on the Ska Stage of The Vans Warped Tour in 2010, converting almost 1000 kids a day into hard-core "Ha-Heads", and attracting Guest Appearances by Fishbone's Angelo Moore and Dave McWane of Big D and The Kids Table. HaSkaLA's debut CD "Untethered & Undone" sold-out on CDBaby within 24 hours and is a current "Staff Pick" at Amoeba Music in Hollywood. In 2012 HaskaLA re-entered the studio, recording two new singles, "The Revolt" & "Never Give Up" (aka "Like Churchill Said") and played an endless series of packed shows at some of L.A.'s most prestigious venues: Molly Malone's, DiPiazza's, The Airliner, The Mint, a Benefit for the American Cancer Society's "Relay for Life", an All Ages acoustic show for toddlers & their parents at Giggles N' Hugs, and on Sunday May 27th, HaSkaLA will launch the "Summer of Ska" opening for Mod/Ska legends The Untouchables at the World Famous "Whisky A Go-Go" on the Sunset Strip!
