    Turnstyled Junkpiled presents:

"Waiting for the day when they stop calling it Americana and start calling it Country again." It's Gonzo Journalism meets Outlaw Country as Turnstyled, Junkpiled shakes shaking things up in the Sin City. Sort of like if Creem Magazine was L.A.'s ONLY Americana Magazine. "Like Merle Haggard, we're no BS."

  • The Far West

    The Far West

The Far West have an authentically Americana sound that’s been described as something like Waylon’s band jamming with Wilco. Their songs are highly personal, introspective and original and betray a deep love of American music. In keeping with the W theme one also hears a little Willie, Whiskeytown and Woody, as in Guthrie, in their music. Their songs are highly personal, introspective and original and betray a deep love of American music that runs from ‘Nashville Skyline’ to the Opry of the 1950’s, from the red dirt of South Texas to the streets of Bakersfield. It’s music you can dance to, start a brawl with or cry in your beer over, however the spirit moves you.

  • Brett Detar

    Brett Detar

Bird In The Tangle is an authentic roots record that takes its listeners on a sweeping journey across coasts and five cities into fleeting highs and empty houses, bleak street lights and closed eyes, the darkest depths of wanderlust and loneliness. After touring the world full-time, releasing five studio albums on both indie and major labels in a successful indie rock band with his childhood friends for ten years, he found himself with splintered musical attachments, changed life goals, and an uncertain musical future.

  • The Southern Tier

    The Southern Tier

The SouthernTier are a Los Angeles based Americana band playing a mixture of Country, Bluegrass and Roots Rock. The SouthernTier is fronted by North Carolina native Mark W. Lennon who released his full length debut album, Home of the Wheel in 2011. Compared to 2009’s much talked about EP, Down the Mountain, Home of the Wheel has a raw - stripped down sound, due in part to producer Marvin Etzioni (Lone Justice). The SouthernTier are currently working on new material for an upcoming release.

  • The Dustbowl Revival

    The Dustbowl Revival

The Dustbowl Revival is a Venice, California-based collective that merges old school bluegrass, gospel, pre-war blues and the hot swing of New Orleans to form a spicy roots cocktail. Known for their roaring live sets, Dustbowl bravely brings together many styles of traditional American music. Some call it string band-brass band mash up. Imagine Old Crow Medicine Show teaming up with Louis Armstrong’s Hot Fives and Sevens, or Bob Dylan and The Band jamming with Benny Goodman and his orchestra in 1938. It’s infectious, joyous music – a youthful take on time-worn American traditions.

Named “Best Live Band in LA” by The LA Weekly, each Dustbowl performance promises to be a white-knuckle ride through the history of American folk music that rarely stays just on the stage. Call it the new old-timey dance hall sound made fresh by some of the best soloists in the business. After placing several songs on ABC and Fox and having tunes featured in independent films like “Made In China” (winner of SXSW) winning Americana song of the year from the Independent Music Awards (Tom Waits judging), playing festivals like Outside Lands and Live Oak and opening for bands like Rebirth Brass Band and Trombone Shorty, the band began barnstorming  more extensively across the USA.

Founder Z. Lupetin came west from Chicago and placed a humble Craigslist ad to get the circus started. The group has grown steadily from a small string band playing up and down the west coast, into a traveling mini orchestra featuring instrumentation that often includes fiddle, mandolin, trombone, clarinet, trumpet, ukelele, drums, tuba, organ, a bass made from a canoe oar, harmonica and plenty of washboard and kazoo for good luck.

With their latest record Carry Me Home rising on the Americana charts, the band is slated for a big 2014. A European tour is in the works. They will be recording their first live album at San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall and LA’s famed Troubadour and have toured the Midwest and East coast.
