Live From Malana is the latest release from singer-songwriter Dane Drewis. In a nod to his musical roots, Malana was recorded and filmed live with a full band at the home of Dane’s parents, and it’s a family affair through and through: Dane’s mother and father (who use to kill it back in the day in a band called Freedom) can be heard singing backup and playing bass, respectively.

The five-song EP and accompanying videos showcase a singular style that’s emerged from an upbringing steeped in funk, soul and classic rock.

Currently residing in Venice Beach, Dane will be playing extensively up and down the west coast and locally in 2015 as he continues to write new material and collaborate with artists that inspire him.

I play modern Folk Music with a blend of 1950-1960 soul filled vocals. I grew up surrounded in both music and art. The Folk Music Center (the store my grandparents built) has instruments, sculptures, paintings, drawings and photographs from all around the world. It is an institution of creativity. We are only able to capture a finite amount of information in one life time. How we pass that knowledge from one individual to the next determines the shape the thoughts will take root as and transform into. My family passes that information through music. My grandmother Dorothy Chase could play anything with strings. As a child, that blew my mind. My mother and both my brothers are insanely talented multi instrumentalists. And, if you have ever spent long periods of time in a music store you will know, the customers come in and play music all day. I was as inspired by the terrible ones as much as I was the great ones. Learning what not to do is as important as learning what to do.
As a Musician I am very excited about getting out into the crowds and interacting with the audience, talking to people after the shows, learning bits and pieces of the cultures and the languages of the countries I attend and the people I meet.

  • Savvy & Mandy

    Savvy & Mandy

Savvy & Mandy bring their unique harmonies and flair to country music. Having recently relocated to Nashville, these California-bred sisters have affectionately referred their music as "CROP" (Country, Rock, Pop). The girls are pursuing their dream of being country music artists and have been writing and recording with some of Nashville's finest writers and producers. Performing at local clubs all over town including The Bluebird Cafe, Douglas Corner, and The Listening Room, these CMA artists have grown up from their days as young performers signed to the Firm Records when they were only 11 and 13 years old. Though just 19 and 21 now, Savvy & Mandy have had music chart on Radio Disney, toured across the US, and had music featured on MTV shows. After taking a couple of years off to perfect their sound, the girls are poised to make their passion a reality by getting signed to a country label and sharing their music with country fans everywhere.
