    Sweet Tea

Clarissa aka SWEET TEA performed at ‘The Candy Shack’  regularly on Friday nights, a jazz club on Crenshaw, for several years. While singing regularly at The Candy Shack, the regulars named her "SWEET TEA" due to her southern style and refreshing sound. She covers Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Tina Turner, Sade, and Jill Scott with passion and names each one as a life changing musical hero.In late July 2015, she released her first EP album, "SWEET TEA: Musical Refreshment”. The CD is a Neo-Soul/R&B collection of Love Songs all written and arranged by SWEET TEA that has reached over 6,000 plays on SoundCloud and has been well received in the Los Angeles music community.

    Peter Harper

I play modern Folk Music with a blend of 1950-1960 soul filled vocals. I grew up surrounded in both music and art. The Folk Music Center (the store my grandparents built) has instruments, sculptures, paintings, drawings and photographs from all around the world. It is an institution of creativity. We are only able to capture a finite amount of information in one life time. How we pass that knowledge from one individual to the next determines the shape the thoughts will take root as and transform into. My family passes that information through music. My grandmother Dorothy Chase could play anything with strings. As a child, that blew my mind. My mother and both my brothers are insanely talented multi instrumentalists. And, if you have ever spent long periods of time in a music store you will know, the customers come in and play music all day. I was as inspired by the terrible ones as much as I was the great ones. Learning what not to do is as important as learning what to do.
As a Musician I am very excited about getting out into the crowds and interacting with the audience, talking to people after the shows, learning bits and pieces of the cultures and the languages of the countries I attend and the people I meet.

    Art of Verse

Hailing from the cloudy mountain peaks of Ketchikan, Alaska, Los Angeles-based emcee Art of Verse hails from a lineage and school of thought of hip-hop connected with the golden age. With three critically-acclaimed albums under his belt, AoV is back with another full-length effort. Except this time, the native Manileño has enlisted a little help from his friends. Teaming up with pianist/producer Dan Michael, the pair have set forth to bring together Datu Kayumanggi, their new six-piece hip-hop collective.

Stemming from a love of a specific brand of hip-hop, AoV x DM’s respect for tradition and fearless experimentation recently led to the release of Live At The Pie Vol. 1Mixed with old material from AoV’s previous records, new material, and a few covers that celebrate the masters that left us in the previous year, Live At The Pie highlights 40+ minutes of music captured live in one take mixed with the limitless possibilities of the modern studio’s post-production capabilities.

“Channeling the Soulquarians as easily as they vamp on funky chords and foundational jazz, the crew piloted by MC Art of Verse and keyboardist DanMichael Reyes delivers a haunting and beautiful ode to the immigrant experience at a pivotal and politically fraught time in American history. Did I mention it also goes hard?” -Okayplayer
