  • Paul The Trombonist

    Paul The Trombonist

Paul Nowell, also known as “Paul The Trombonist,” is a Los Angeles based music producer/songwriter/DJ/performer/educator/film maker and acclaimed trombonist. He has performed privately in front of celebrities including: Leonardo DiCaprio, Martin Scorsese, Sean Penn, Charlize Theron, Robert Pattinson, Zac Efron, Bill Maher and Ryan Seacrest to name a few. His videos of originally produced content have received tens of millions of views.

As a teenager, while playing with his own group at a jazz club in Cleveland, Paul was approached by Duke Ellington’s nephew, Ron Ellington Shy of the Drifters and Coasters fame. Immediately after, Nowell began working with Ellington Shy on his musical arrangements. Also as a teenager Paul played in jazz legend Chico Hamilton’s band for the Tri-C Jazz Festival. He was a member of the Glenn Miller Orchestra and toured the world with them. Afterwards he played trombone for Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan on his Tony award winning (2010 Best Musical) “Memphis." 10 time Grammy winning trumpeter Arturo Sandoval recognized the talent of Paul and together they created a series of online videos that instantly become a hit all around the world by millions of people. He has also served as trombonist in the queen of soul, Arethra Franklin’s band and performed together with Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane in his band and also in Noel Gallagher of Oasis's band.

Nowell graduated from Berklee College of Music on scholarship and has studied with some of the finest trombonists alive. Paul is also the creator of the internet show “Bone Masters” where he interviews living trombone legends and conducts master classes with them. He has created the largest educational video library about the trombone in existence.

His live show incorporates trombone and technology in a way never heard before. From Jazz/Pop/Hip-Hop and Dance music, Paul uses looping technology, keyboards, and trombone improvisation that will take you to another world.

  • Johnny Butler

    Johnny Butler

Johnny Butler is a Brooklyn-based saxophonist, composer, and producer who takes the saxophone into another dimension with a provocative style that is as thoughtful as it is danceable. Groove-driven but given to richly textured sound design, rhythmically fractured but melodically sumptuous, Butler’s music is a bridge between the past and the present, bringing the artist face-to-face with a creative legacy that spans decades, equally influenced by Intelligent Dance Music and boom-bap hip-hop. Downbeat Magazine writes: “After dabbling with resonances from John Coltrane and Miles Davis and enveloping his processed saxophone sound in cavernous reverb, Brooklyn-based Johnny Butler turns a polyphony of overdubbed horns (triggered by laptop) into Fritz Lang’s Metropolis machine.”

Over the years, Johnny has performed, written, and recorded with many of his musical heroes in a wide range of styles including writing and recording for Beyonce, playing with tUnE-yArDs, Donald Fagen (Steely Dan), Warren Haynes, the Levon Helm Band, Govt Mule, Rubblebucket, Joe Lally (Fugazi), Strangefolk at StrangeCreek, La La Brooks of Phil Spector’s Crystals, The Skeletons Big Band. When Butler first arrived in Brooklyn, he became a founding member of Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds, touring for four years and releasing two albums on Modern Vintage Recordings. He also lead the group Scurvy and released the album Fracture on London’s Hi4Head Records.

Butler has opened up for Stevie Wonder, Lettuce, Common, Medeski Martin and Wood, Rebirth Brass Band, The Avett Brothers, Dr. John, Fitz and the Tantrums, Counting Crows, moe., Soulive, Sharon Jones and Dap Kings, Trombone Shorty, Grand Funk Railroad, Galatic, Allen Stone, Turkauz, and the Funky Meters at venues such as Mountain Jam, Montreux Jazz Festival, San Sabastian Jazz Festival, Bear Creek, Gathering of the Vibes, Telluride Jazz Festival, Voodoo Fest in New Orleans, North Sea Jazz Festival, and Bonnaroo.
