    Phat Trick

Phat Trick is a youth alternative/indie/classic rock/funk band based in Los Angeles, CA. We write and perform original songs influenced by various artists, including Led Zeppelin, The Black Keys, The White Stripes, Jimi Hendrix, and others. We have been playing together and writing music since January 1, 2015. We have played several shows in Los Angeles and love to play for live audiences. We all play multiple instruments and perform in our school rock and jazz bands in addition to Phat Trick. We released our first studio album, Edge of Today, on July 1, 2016. The songs have been posted to our site (www.phattrickband.com) and are available on iTunes and Bandcamp.com. Check out our music and book us at your show. We will rock the house!

    Alec Schulman

Alec, 17, is a senior at Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences. Most recently he won the grand prize award for the Los Angeles Music Center’s Spotlight Jazz Instrumental Category, where he played an original composition at Disney Hall. He is also a Merit Winner for the National Young Arts Foundation. Alec studies privately with Chris Dawson, but he has also taken lessons from Aaron Parks, Alan Pasqua, and Ed Simon. Alec plays in Evan Avery’s Jazz “A” Band at Crossroads, and has also participated in the Colburn School Ensembles, directed by Lee Secard. He enjoys acting and has performed in many school productions. Alec has a passion for the humanities, specifically history and philosophy. Last summer, Alec attended the Brubeck Jazz Colony and the Stanford Jazz Institute, which he participated in the year before. Having performed at the Mint once before, Alec’s ensemble this time features some of the most inspiring, upcoming musicians in Los Angeles.

See below for Alec’s original tune, Distant Sands, performed at Disney Hall June 11, 2016.

  • Room 4

    Room 4

Based in Los Angeles with a self-proclaimed genre of hard rock and blues, in 2016 Room 4 became the name of this quartet. Formed with powerhouse singer Chenza Puno, guitarist Matthew Moyer, drummer Deni Cabaravdic, and bassist Kirby Lanzanas, they began playing their takes on songs by their influences such as Guns N' Roses, Halestorm, The Pretty Reckless, and Led Zeppelin; to name a few. Room 4 began playing shows throughout the Los Angeles area and the US just shortly after they formed followed by the release of their first single "Betrayed" on SoundCloud, Apple Music, and Spotify in February 2017.
