  • Christopher Youmans and The Sound Agency

Christopher Youmans and The Sound Agency

Chris Youmans was born in 1993 and grew up in Santa Cruz, CA.  He started learning bluegrass flatpicking guitar at age 5. Youmans grew up surrounded by an eclectic mix of music, from traditional Irish music to his dad’s record collection of classic rock bands and songwriters like James Taylor and Joni Mitchell.

As a teenager Youmans developed a love of gospel and soul music, listening to great singers like Donny Hathaway and Whitney Houston. He started writing songs at 14 after discovering his love of Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours album.

Youmans studied Music at UC Berkeley, where he joined two gospel choirs and performed jazz standards and rearranged pop covers with a band in clubs. In college Youmans began playing with musicians from the local funk and jazz scene. Going out to the weekly funk nights became a weekly tradition. This eventually gave rise to Youmans's explorations of Nile Rodgers, Stevie Wonder, and the Dap-Kings.

Some painful years of loss and broken relationships led Youmans to write the songs on his debut EP,  Make Things Right. The songs are reflections about his life during those years. His musical inspirations for the production in the Make Things Right EP range from 1960s pop/rock groups like the Shangri-Las and the Beach Boys to famed contemporary producer, Mark Ronson.

Christopher Youmans is the recipient of the 2015 Eisner Prize in Music for creative achievement of the highest order in Music, the 2015 Mary Nunes Souza Award for a special project requiring original and outstanding achievement in the study of music, the 2014 Bernece B. Lyon Memorial Prize in recognition of performance and outstanding academic merit, and the West Coast Songwriter’s Best Performance Prize in June 2013. He lives in Los Angeles and is currently working on new music.

  • Orphan Jon The Abandoned

    Orphan Jon The Abandoned

Orphan Jon and The Abandoned is an American Roots & Blues band from the Central Coast of California. OJATA is quickly becoming a go to band because of the high energy and passion they display while performing. Roots and Blues is their life blood, and it shows in their ever-popular originals; and the few selective covers, they bring to every show. Soon to be going into the studio in the spring of 2017 to cut their highly-anticipated debut lp after having released a 5-track ep the summer of 2015; that’s received great reviews as well as air play throughout the country and overseas, has many talking about the bright future on the horizon for OJATA. It is the bands goal to captivate the audience from the first note struck until the last chord is played while entertaining them both musically and visually. OJATA simply put, is a unique band. Unique in that they express themselves in such a way; that’s so different, that many have said after seeing them perform live, they’ve never seen nor heard anyone like them before. And not only do they capture the traditional fans of the blues; which they so love and cherish, but also have been gaining more and more of a younger audience due to the Roots style of music they showcase everywhere they’ve been honored to play. When you see, and hear them you will be taken on a journey through the ups and downs, the twists and turns, peaks and valleys of the vibrancy of love and everyday living through their music. They are a rare breed full of spirit and charisma, and they put on a show that is both energetic and captivating with a tight sound like no other.

  • Bikini Trill

    Bikini Trill

Formed in 2016, Bikini Trill are a reggae/electronic trio from Los Angeles, California.
The group seamlessly blend electronic, hip-hop drums, skank island guitars, and powerful pop vocals to create a fresh sound that has been compared to the likes of No Doubt and Dirty Heads.
The name 'Bikini Trill' is a nod to the various musicians and genres from which they draw inspiration- combining the riot-girl punk mentality of Bikini Kill with current urban and trap influences.
The trio are currently gearing up to release their debut single, 'Sticky Treez', in February 2017 closely followed by a self-titled EP.  Stay tuned for upcoming tour dates and special performances during SXSW in Austin, Texas.
