Taking inspiration from the great bands of the past (drawing comparisons to R.E.M. and Nirvana) Angwish is leaving its musical footprint all over the world with a maelstrom of non-stop international touring. Front man Bryan Bielanski (guitars/vocals) formed the alternative rock duo in Charlotte, NC while still in high school. Angwish has released 10 full length albums, 2 EPs and played over 1000 shows in 45 of the 50 United States, and 18 different countries on 3 continents. The duo has also been sponsored by the national US music store chain Sam Ash, and had songs placed in European Red Bull advertisements. The guitar/drums duo (complemented by Bethany Graham on drums/vocals) creates its thick sound by using a specially modified guitar, numerous effects pedals and multiple amplifiers, a set up that Bryan constructed himself.
Dave Koons, hails from Rock Hill South Carolina and is not only a singer/songwriter, but also fronts his band the Koyotes. He says his music is a littleAcid Blues with a touch of Americana. Songs about driving, struggle, regret, home, apple pie and of course, love and sex. Dave has played nationally and internationally, having opened for Mother's Finest, Ratt, LA Guns and David Alan Coe.
Evan Xie is a 9 year old piano virtuoso born in Charlotte North Carolina whose parents immigrated from China. Evan has won every major piano competition in the South and continues to amaze his musical seniors by playing all the classical pieces from Mozart to Bach without the aid of sheet music. He closes his eyes and sways back and forth at the keys reminiscent of Ray Charles. Like any normal kid Evan plays soccer and his hero is Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers.
Jin Hao is well known in China as one of the founding members of China’s emerging Jazz Fusion scene. The sound of his sax combines eastern and western music and his use of the new technologies has put him on the world stage. He commutes between his studios in New York and Beijing.
One Leg Rooster
Mickey Floyd and Warren Leazer who are the founders and songwriters for One Leg Rooster spent their lives as “hired players” for some of America’s top touring and recording bands in the 70’s & 80’s. They played for Percy Sledge, Dr Hook and Conway Twitty, just to name a few. Now they have come off the road and returned to their roots in Statesville North Carolina. These seasoned musicians play their version of the blues and combine it with what they call “Foothill Funk”
The Grey Wolf Band
The Grey Wolf Band comes from the Silk Road region of Western China. Their sound and instrumentation combines the rock drive of Fender guitars and Marshall amps with the ethnic stringed instruments of the Turkish/Chinese Uighur people. This will be their first American appearance.
