  • Eliza Rickman

    Eliza Rickman

There is always a hint of menace and reservoirs of force haunting the corners of Eliza Rickman’s voice, whatever register it occupies. Her presence on stage—whether she wears flowers in her hair, or stuffed birds; whether she plays a Schoenhut toy piano or a grand piano—is an enveloping, soft darkness, impossible to ignore. It is quite a surprise that Rickman didn’t even realize she could sing until after she earned a degree in orchestration from Azusa Pacific University, because her voice is the most enthralling and salient feature of any on the tracks from her new album ‘O, You Sinners’. And this is saying something, considering her deftness as a pianist and her subtlety as a composer. Like Kate Bush’s work, or like PJ Harvey’s album ‘White Chalk’, the arrangements on ‘O, You Sinners’ are edged with dissonance. Like Andrew Bird, she favors pizzicato strings over junkyard percussion and complex lyrical melodies. Indeed, Rickman’s co-producer Mark Greenberg is a frequent contributor to Bird’s albums (as well as to Wilco’s ‘The Whole Love’ and to the Grammy Award-winning Mavis Staples’s album ‘You Are Not Alone’).

Palaye Royale is featured alongside their single, “Get Higher” in the 2014 worldwide commercial for Samsung Galaxy Note. • Hallelujah The Hills

    Hallelujah The Hills

Hallelujah the Hills is an American indie rock band from Boston, Massachusetts, formed in 2005. They have been hailed by the Boston Phoenix as “one of Boston’s most prized pop possessions”, received a 3 1/2 star review for their debut in Rolling Stone Magazine, and have been praised by Pitchfork Media as having a “knack for crafting fist-pumping anthems from absurdist word clusters.

Brace yourself for the collaborative genius of Nowhere, the creative brainchild of Brooklyn based producer and alternative band The Kickdrums and bay-area rhymesayer Duckwrth, a bold and fearless project that blurs the lines between hip hop, alternative, rock and pop unlike anything you'll hear this year.

Both The Kickdrums' and Duckwrth's following continue to grow with every independent release. Among his artist albums like Thinking Out Loud and the acclaimed Meet Your Ghost, The Kickdrums (Alex Fitts) are well-known for the release of genre-bending projects and singles that included features by the likes of Casey Veggies, ASAP Rocky, MFKN Exquire, Maluca, Freddie Gibbs, Gilbere Forte, Outasight and Oncue. He has earned a reputation for being in early and on top of the next buzzworthy artist.

It only seems fitting he would team up with rapper/singer/graphic designer from the Bay-Area via South Central, Duckwrth for their upcoming collaborative release titled NOWHERE. Widely known for his TeamBackPack freestyles, Duckwrth can be compared to some Hip Hop influencers like The Pharcyde, Tribe Called Quest and Mos Def and has been featured in blogs like Noisey, Afropunk, P&P, Okayplayer and more. Duckwrth's most recent tape, TaxFree V1, was just a glimpse into his inevitable evolution into becoming more than just a rapper but a solid performing artist in every sense of the word. Check out the controversial first single Super Soaker as premiered on HillDilly and featured on blogs like The Source and  Be on the look out for NOWHERE Spring 2015.
