Seven solo albums, two collaborative albums, three music production credits on a internationally acclaimed children’s video, several film and stage roles and the creation of a wildly successful concert series to benefit refugees in Uganda- Yes, trying to pin down Stephanie Schneiderman to any one genre, talent or discipline is next to impossible. And while Stephanie’s latest effort, her seventh solo released called Rubber Teardrop, retains the rootsy flair, distinctive vocals and intricate songwriting that along with her work with popular regional act, Dirty Martini- have solidified her as one of the NW’s premier artists, the album also, unsurprisingly, launches her sound in a completely new, uncharted direction.

The catalyst for this is her musical partnership with renown electronic musician/producer/DJ Keith Schreiner. (Dahlia, Auditory Sculpture, Minnie Driver and Grammy-winning artists Jeff Trott, Sheryl Crow, and Mike Elizondo). The result is a gorgeous recording that transcends genre and defies convention—an 11 song compilation that artfully combines pop, trip hop, soul, electronica and folk and is a testament to the magic that can happen when a unique collaboration hits its stride.

Stephanie’s solo career began with a coveted spot in the 1999 Lilith Fair. Since then she has earned extensive NW radio play, song placement in film/TV including Vampire Diaries, WB’s Felicity, Jack and Jill, Northern Lights and more, a devout following and multiple appearances with some of the nations top touring acts including Train, Hall and Oates, Five For Fighting, Pat Benatar, Heart Chicago, Chris Isaak, Aimee Mann, Ben Taylor, Crash Test Dummies and Marc Cohen.

In the fall of 2007 Stephanie founded and produced Portland’s first humanitarian concert series Voices for Silent Disasters (www.voicesforsilentdisasters.com). Voices featured 37 of Portland’s top musical acts throughout 10 concerts. She raised $75,000 for Mercy Corps in the communities in northern Uganda and is currently working on the series for the future.
