‘a strange and magical album’ Sydney Morning Herald
‘pop rock winner’ Rolling Stone
He spent the last few years traveling working dreaming writing and playing out live
and has now finished his new album called Turnin’ with engineer/producer Steve Holroyd (Paul McCartney/Tom Petty).
’It was recorded at Rogers Boat Studio nicely hidden in the San Fernando Valley, and is home to an analog tape machine previously used in John Williams (film composer) studio. There are a lot of live takes on this album which makes for some relaxed moments in time. I wanted to make something earthy and American-ish but also having pop hooks and sing-along sections with some kooky dreamy sounds, this album also features my first slide guitar solo on Ain’t Nothing Hurts Like a Heartache.‘ D Henry Fenton
He cites Celtic Music, Erik Satie, Van Morrison, and The Smiths as influences on his writing and sound.
His LA live band D Henry Fenton & The Elizabethans now play regularly in Southern California and are comprised of Kelsey Collins (vocals/percussion), Cliff Starbuck (vocals/bass/banjo) and D Henry Fenton (vocals/guitar)
Although the album contains tracks with layered drums, piano and guitars the smaller band translates the material well and has been warmly received at venues.
